Map

Candlelight League was founded in 1966. We have five Baseball Fields. We are conveniently located three exits north of Loop 610 off of Hwy 290 (Northwest Fwy) and Bingle Rd. in Northwest Houston.

Details about our fields and overall:

  • Field #1 is primarily a Tee-ball field with a temporary outfield fence at 120ft. to center. The bases are 60ft. It has electricity at the mound for a pitching machine.
  • Field #2 can be used as either a machine pitch or coach pitch. Center field also has a temporary fence at 160ft. and the bases are 60ft.
  • Field #3 is a kid pitch or minors field with center field at 190 ft. and the bases are 60ft. There is electricity available at the mound for a pitching machine.
  • Field #4 is our Pony Field and is multi-use. It is 275ft. to the corners and 305 to center. The bases are 90ft.
  • Field #5 is 205 to center and 70ft. bases.
  • All fields have a working scoreboard except Field #4 and we’re working on that. All dugouts are fenced and covered and there is ample parking.
  • Bathrooms are a cinder blockhouse and kept clean. We do have a concession stand.
  • All fields are amply lit for night games.
  • Fields 3,4 and 5 have the ability to be re-configured for adult softball as well. Bleachers are also covered.
  • Alcohol is prohibited.
  • Please leave the park clean as you found it. We work hard to keep it that way.

Field Rentals

Baseball fields are available to rent. For more information on rates, contact the League via Voicemail at (713) 688-8590 or email us at field.

By-Laws

Our By-Laws are the guidelines, rules, and policies of our League. They include our leadership and mission statement.

PDF By-Laws for the 2007 season

Philosophy

Candlelight League believes first and foremost that ALL CHILDREN MATTER. Candlelight League further believes that all children can benefitfrom the many life lessons learned by participation in youth sports activities if, and only if, each child is allowed to participate fully; each child is treated with kindness and respect; and, each child is given the proper guidance necessary for him or her to achieve his or her potential. It is therefore the responsibility of each adult who participates, at whatever level, including the parents of the children participating, to adhere to this overriding philosophy at all times.

In keeping with this philosophy, there is no conceivable circumstance that would ever justify inappropriate or abusive behavior. Inappropriate or abusive behavior is defined as any form of threatening or disruptive behavior, derogatory or demeaning statements, the use of vulgar language or any other action determined to be inappropriate by the Candlelight League Board of Directors.

Signing a Candlelight League registration form expressly represents to the League that both the parent and the child agree with the League's philosophy, agree to abide by the League's philosophy, and agree to accept appropriate sanctions for violations of this philosophy as determined by the Candlelight League Board of Directors.

Governance

Candlelight League is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and League Officers elected by the General Membership in conformity with the Candlelight Bylaws. Candlelight League is sustained without the use of any public funds. All board meetings are conducted pursuant to proper notice, are open to the public, and anyone choosing to attend is welcome.

"Where does my money go?"

We have a lot of people ask us where the money they spend for their child to play sports with Candlelight goes. I thought I would take the time to explain and save time and frustration when you come to register at our park.

First off, we have a mandatory raffle ticket sell that cannot be placed on our fliers that go out to the schools. We are not trying to hide the raffle ticket sales. It’s just that some of the school districts we distribute to will not allow that on the fliers. They have in the past but have changed their rules for various reasons.

We charge a registration fee for each sport. This covers the items it takes to put on games and practices. This includes umpires/referees as required, lighting for night games, water/sewer fees, document forms (registration and fliers), equipment for each sport, and fuel for mowers/trimmers.

We then have a mandatory raffle ticket sale (or buy-out). These funds are used for major and minor improvements (fencing, backstops, pitching machines, bleacher repairs, mowers, trimmers, light bulbs, electricians, plumbers, etc.) or repairs for major equipment. This fund is also used for any short falls we have from items that go over our registration fee budget.

The next item is our team sponsorship fee. This fee is usually collected by your coach, but since a lot of you have stepped up to coach I wanted to give you a chance to hear about it prior to a coaches meeting. This fee is used to pay for the actual uniform that is given to each child at Candlelight.

So with that said, our intent at Candlelight is to keep playing sports as affordable to you as we can without running out of funding.

Candlelight believes that rather than charging one flat fee (that would appear too expensive) to play, we ask that you sell tickets and help find a sponsor.

Thank you for being a part of our organization.

President Candlelight League

¿A dónde va mi dinero?

Annette Lockridge
Presidente de la Liga Candlelight
